Privacy Policy – Portofelo

Portofelo (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a personal finance and expense tracking application. Your privacy is important to us, and this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

• Email address
• Authentication information (via email/password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple)

We do not collect or store your Apple ID password or Google password.

1.2 Financial & App Data

To provide core functionality, we collect and store:

• Accounts, budgets, transactions, and expense-related data
• User-selected country and currency preferences

This data is stored securely in our backend (Supabase) and is used only to provide app functionality.

1.3 Receipt Images & OCR / AI Processing

Portofelo allows users to scan or upload receipts to extract expense information.

Receipt Images

• Receipt images are stored locally on the user’s device.
• Images are temporarily transmitted to third-party services solely for processing.
• We do not store receipt images on our servers at this time.
• Receipt images are not linked to your identity by any third-party provider.

Receipt Processing

Receipt content may be processed using:

• Google Vision API – optical character recognition (OCR)
• OpenAI APIs – receipt parsing, data structuring, and smart expense categorization

Only the minimum data required to perform these operations is transmitted. No user identifiers are attached to this data during processing.

Extracted receipt information (such as merchant name, total, items, and categories) may be saved as expense data in your account.

Future paid features may allow optional cloud storage of receipt images. If introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

1.4 Usage & Diagnostic Data

We collect minimal usage events (such as feature usage or app actions) and store them in our backend for:

• Improving app stability
• Understanding feature usage
• Debugging and performance monitoring

We do not use third-party analytics platforms (such as Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, or similar), and we do not track users across apps or websites.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain app functionality
• Authenticate users and manage sessions
• Process receipt data and expenses
• Categorize expenses intelligently
• Improve app features and reliability
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell user data.

3. Third-Party Services

Portofelo uses the following third-party services strictly for functionality:

• Supabase – authentication, secure data storage, backend services
• Google Vision API – receipt text recognition (OCR)
• OpenAI – receipt parsing and smart expense categorization
• Apple App Store / RevenueCat – in-app purchases and subscription management

These services process data only as necessary to provide their functionality and in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data is shared only when required to:

• Perform receipt OCR and AI-based parsing
• Provide authentication
• Process subscriptions

5. Data Retention

• Account and financial data is retained while your account is active.
• Receipt images remain on your device unless you delete them.
• You may delete your account at any time.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly from within the app via the Profile section.

When you delete your account, your account data is permanently removed from our servers. This action cannot be undone.

8. Children’s Privacy

Portofelo is rated 4+ and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under applicable laws.

9. Location Data

Portofelo does not collect precise location data (GPS). Country and currency information is collected only through user selection to support localization and financial features.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data

These actions can be performed within the app or by contacting us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated “Last updated” date.
